Fabulous Fundraising-Bake and Ache

Seren wanted to tell the school about a fundraiser she organised over the bank holiday weekend.

Seren decided to hold a socially-distanced bake sale outside our house to raise money for the NHS: she called it Bake and Ache because when you bake, your arms hurt from stirring, and also if you’re ill and need the NHS you probably ache too, and if you eat enough cake, your stomach will ache!

Seren made a poster and a video ad, and advertised it on the WhatsApp groups for our neighbouring streets. She held it on the bank holiday Sunday because that was Eid and it meant our neighbours could all take part and eat the cakes too. Her friend Misia who goes to St Mary’s joined in and had a stall On their road too, and Freda Najjemba made some shortbread for both stalls. Seren did a load of baking, wearing a face mask, and then stood behind the table with her mask on. Everybody queued up with 2m between them, and paid whatever they wanted into the donations bucket. It lasted for two hours and she raised £157.91! Misia and her sister and brother raised £111.82, so in total they all raised £269.73 for the NHS. We’re giving the money to the NHS Charities Together National COVID appeal.

We’re very proud of her!
