Autumn 2 English

This half we are looking at a range of Anthony Browne stories that we have borrowed from Salford Library. The children love reading his amazing picture books, particularly 'Piggy Book' and the 'Willy and Hugh' series. We have used these books to write persuasive letters, book reviews, character profiles and postcards as it is important to write for different purposes.

We Will be using 'Talk for Writing' to learn the wishing story 'Willy the Wizard' and the children will then create their own wishing stories, which I can't wait to read!

Autumn 1 English

We have started the year studying a lost and found story  called Whiffy Wilson which is an hilarious story about a smelly wolf who wouldn't have a bath. The children produced some fantastic writing around this book. First we described him, then we wrote him persuasive letters to try and get him to wash. We even sent him a set of instructions telling him how to do it.The children loved creating their own stories about smelly animals who wouldn't wash. Have a look at our display in the hall, which shows our amazing writing!
