School Closure

Please find below the work set for your children to do during the school closure. The work that we have provided is optional for you to complete. Each week we will put a new set of work on the school website for you to access and download. All of the work that has been set so far during the closure can be found on our Google Drive. To go to the Google Drive please click HERE.


All of the resources that we are providing you with do not require a printer. You can complete the work on the computer or use a piece of paper to write them out.


If you are using a mobile phone to access the work sent, then you will need to get the work from the Google Drive.

Week Beginning 6th July 2020

English

Over the next two weeks, with the help of your virtual teacher Jo, you are going to work towards writing your own information text about unicorns. This week you will need the ‘Talk for Writing home-school booklet: Unicorns uncovered’ (pages 1 - 15). Here is a breakdown of your activities:

Monday - Invent your own mythical beast and learn the model text
Tuesday - Words! Words! Words!
Wednesday - Read & understand and Spellings
Thursday - Grammar
Friday - Short-burst writing: Poetry

Maths

This week in Maths, you are going to be doing some work on measuring capacity and mass. You can find the video links to support your learning HERE. Here is a breakdown of lessons for this week:

Monday - measure mass
Tuesday - compare mass
Wednesday - add and subtract mass
Thursday - measure capacity
Friday - challenge

Reading

This week, Miss Birelo and I would like you to complete another Reading Eggs book. This week, it is called 'To Rob a Dragon'. There are 6 chapters to read, and also some ideas for additional activities if you'd like to give them a try!

Science

Over the next two weeks we would like you to carry out a science investigation into how our heart rate is affected by exercise.

Miss Birelo and I would like you to design and carry out your own investigation. See the word and powerpoint documents for extra guidance.

English

This week your task is to write your own description of a setting. Over the next few days you are going to identify and practise using some features that will help you to describe a setting. Here is a breakdown of your activities:

Monday - learn the model text and clarify
Tuesday - using prepositions
Wednesday - using similes and metaphors
Thursday - using your senses
Friday - planning and writing your own setting description

Maths

This week in Maths, you are going to be doing some work on measurement, 2D and 3D shapes and time.

Reading

This week, Miss Birelo and I would like you to complete another Reading Eggs book. This week, it is called How the tiger got his stripes. There are 4 chapters to read, and also some ideas for additional activities if you'd like to give them a try!

Art

We are continuing with our portraits topic this week. You'll find a breakdown of some activities you can do at home to begin learning how to sketch a portrait. Now that you have learnt the basic facial features, it is time to begin putting your face together.

Topic

Miss Birelo and I would like you to carry on with your new project about Famous People. We'd like you to chose a famous person who is from or near from Manchester. They could be famous for anything, i.e. sports, a presenter, an activitst, an author. It's completey up to you! What we'd like you to do is research your chosen individual and present your information in any way you decide. This could be:

- using a PowerPoint

- a video presentation

- a poster

- a leaflet

You decide who you research and how you present it, but we are really looking forward to seeing your work!
