3B 2019 - 2020

Miss Birelo

Welcome to 3B

Adults who work here:

Miss Birelo, Mrs Mitchell and Ms Wheeler.

Over the next few weeks, I will be using our class page to support you and your children with their learning as much as possible. I will try to attach some work to use throughout the week with instructions where possible. I hope that it will be useful for you.

Feel free to print the resources for your children to write on, or just view it online and allow your child to complete the work on a separate piece of paper.

I will still be working throughout the school closure, so if you need any support please do contact me as I am more than happy to help in any way possible!

School closure resources

Each week, I will be uploading new resources for you to support your child with at home. These will hopefully help in developing lessons at home as well as ideas of how you could be implementing your child's learning.

Dear 3B children, parents and carers,

I hope you're all getting on okay at home and keeping yourselves busy with some safe time outside as well. I just want to remind you that you are all more than welcome to send me pictures of the work you've been doing at home. I thought it would be lovely to share some of the things you've been doing on our class blog as a way to keep in contact with each other.

Even though it's the Easter holidays, I'm still going to be working every now and then getting some work ready for the website if you'd like any and will also be available via email. If anyone has any questions for me, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Hi All!

Just a message to remind you all of the great resource we have access to, Reading Eggs. All your children will have logins for this, and can log on at the following link: https://readingeggs.co.uk/login1/. For Year 3, most of the resources that will support your child the greatest at home will be the Reading Eggspress. On this, you will find vocabulary, spelling and reading activities.

If your child needs their log in sending to them again, just pop an email over to year3@almapark.manchester.sch.uk and I'll be happy to help!

For more Writing inspiration, Pie Corbett is releasing a daily podcast supporting the development of creative writing. Children can follow along with the activities each day in order to gain more support with their work. This is live each morning at 9:30am, however can be listened to at any time of day. Follow the link to have a go: https://radioblogging.net/

Please see resources for the week beginning Monday 30th March attached below. In English, we are focussing on writing alternative stories and concentrating on multiplication in Maths.

Miss Fenton and I have tried to create a weekly set of Maths and English lessons which we will update weekly. We have also created some topic work, including Science and Geography, which aims to give you some creative ideas to investigate each topic over the next few weeks.

We hope the work can support you with your child's learning at home, but if you have any questions then you can contact us using the following email: year3@almapark.manchester.sch.uk

Please see attached some resources for your child to use for the week beginning Monday 23rd March 2020.

The Maths focuses on what we have been learning in school - using the expanded column method for addition and subtraction.

The Writing activity is based around story writing. Children are encouraged to read through the story opener provided, and should think of how they could finish the story. I have encouraged them to be creative and create a map of where Douglas might travel to. They can be really individual in this in how they draw it and colour it. They could even use an old teabag to stain the paper and tear the edges to make it look really old! The map will support them in recording where Douglas goes which will help them stay on track when writing their story.

Reading Eggs - Children have now been sent home a form including their log ons for a new programme called Reading Eggs. They are able to log on using the following website https://readingeggs.co.uk/login1/ using tablets or computers. Please encourage children to try Reading Eggs out, we'd love to hear some feedback for if they are enjoying it.

Mathletics - Please don't forget that the children have access to Mathletics outside of school. They are able to log on using their details (should be found in their reading records) using the following website: https://login.mathletics.com/

Useful files:

Please find below our Spring 2 Plans as well as their National Curriculm spellings for Year 3 and 4.
