"Achievement Partnership Success"

1C 2019 - 2020

Miss Clark

1C is taught by Miss. Clark and supported by Miss. Bannerman and Mrs. Marsh.

Welcome to 1C's home page. Here you will get a taste of what is happening in our classroom on a weekly or termly bases. Use the pictures and information shared to discuss with your child what learning has taken place.

During this term we will be reading traditional tales. We will use Talk for Writing to retell and rewrite the story of Little Red Riding Hood, changing elements within the story. We will be looking at character descriptions and how to make our writing more interesting by using describing words and conjunctions.

In Maths we will be focusing on the place value of numbers up to 20 and additon and subtraction of these numbers. We will practise adding and subtracting using a range of practical resources from our Maths Toolkits. We will then explore how to work out a missing number in a number sentence. We will also be looking at measurements e.g. length and height. We will use a range of non-stanard and standard units of measurement.

In Science we are learning about different materials. We will be visiting the Hat Musuem to start our new topic. We will explore how different materials are made and used. The children can also explore our light investigation area in the classroom using a range of torches, lights, celophanes, mirrors and shiny materials.

Our P.E days are Monday and Thursday afternoons. We ask that the children bring their PE kit in and leave it in school for the full half term and then they can take it home at the end to be washed.

Please can you ensure that all uniform including P.E kits and school shoes, pumps or trainers are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Reading books are changed when your child takes part in guided reading. We have written your child's book changing day on the front of his/her reading record. Don't forget Bug Club is a great way to electronically access books matching your child's reading level.

Please help your child practise their phonics using the websites recommended (phonics play and Teach Your Monster To Read).
